GroundMaintenancePro grade

This Greenteeth stump grinder bolt secures the teeth and pockets on a Greenteeth cutter wheel. Bolts take a beating from rocks and vibration, and a worn or stretched one can let a tooth come loose.

Why bolts matter

The wheel on a stump grinder spins fast and hits wood, dirt, and stones. A tooth thrown from the wheel is dangerous. Bolts with worn heads, damaged threads, or signs of stretching should be replaced, not reused.

Match bolts to your Greenteeth series. More teeth and parts are in our stump grinding section.

Bolts also wear at the head from contact with dirt and debris. A rounded or worn head can make removal difficult and is a sign the bolt has reached the end of its life.

Daily checks

With the machine off and the wheel stopped, inspect bolts and nuts and torque them to Green Manufacturing's spec. Check again after hitting a rock.

Keep the work area clear, use the grinder's guards and a debris shield, and wear eye, face, and hearing protection.

Replace bolts when you replace teeth or pockets, or sooner if they show wear. Keep spares in the truck so you don't have to stop the job. Use the right socket so you don't round off the heads. Clean the threads before reassembly and use new nuts where the manufacturer calls for them. If a bolt is hard to remove, don't force it with heat near the wheel; follow the maker's advice.
