Petzl's 45-liter haul pack for climbing and rope work gear.
The Petzl Transport 45L is a rugged gear pack built for carrying climbing and rope work equipment to the job. Arborists use it to keep a saddle, hardware, and lines together and protected between the truck and the tree.
When the tree is at the back of a property or down a slope, a pack with shoulder straps beats arm-carrying a bag. The Transport is a haul-style pack meant to take abuse, so it suits climbers who move their kit a long way on foot.
Pack heavy hardware low and close to your back, and keep the saddle on top for quick setup at the tree.
Carrying a pack instead of a bag also keeps your hands free for a saw, throw line, or rope bag. On long walks to a job, that alone can save a trip back to the truck. Adjust the shoulder straps before loading so the pack sits steady and does not swing as you walk.
Rinse off mud and sap, dry it open, and keep it away from fuel and bar oil in the truck. Inspect the gear you take out of it before every climb.
Store the pack open and dry when you get back to the shop. Damp gear that sits zipped up can develop mildew, and fabric soft goods may need to be retired if they stay wet too long.
See other gear bags. Life-support gear must meet the applicable standard (ANSI Z133 and the manufacturer's instructions), be inspected before every use, and be used only by trained climbers.

Some ropes will fit along with other kit, depending on length. Many climbers still use a separate rope bag.
