Replacement braided polyester pull cord for pole pruners.
This braided polyester pole pruner rope replaces the pull cord on a pole pruner head. Polyester stretches little, so more of your pull goes into the cut, and the braid gives a firm grip.
The pull cord takes friction through the pulley, abrasion along the pole and plenty of UV. Once it frays, glazes or gets stiff, it slips through gloves and drags in the pulley. A worn cord can also snap mid-cut, leaving the blade stuck in a limb overhead.
Polyester holds up well to sun and wear and stretches less than nylon, so the cut feels crisp rather than spongy.
Replacing the cord is cheap and quick, and most crews do it at least once a season on pruners that see daily use. Keep a spare length in the truck. While the head is apart, check the pulley for wear, sharp edges or a sticky bearing, since a rough pulley shreds a new cord quickly. A cord that runs smoothly also makes the pruner far less tiring to use on a long day of overhead cuts.
Check the cord diameter against your pruner's pulley and attachment point. Thread it through the head the same way as the old rope, tie it off per the manufacturer's instructions and cut it to length for your longest pole setup. Seal the cut end so it doesn't unravel.
This is a pull cord, not life-support rope. Never use it for climbing or rigging. See more pole pruners and parts in our pruners and loppers section.

Match the diameter your pruner head and pulley are designed for. Check the old cord or the maker's specs.
Usually not. Climbing rope is often too thick for pruner pulleys and stretches more than a polyester pull cord.
