PruningGround

The Husqvarna Technical hand pruner is built for clean, repeated cuts on small branches, suckers and shrub growth. It rides in a pruner pouch so climbers and ground workers have it ready.

The cut you make most

On a pruning job, hand pruners make more cuts than anything else: suckers, water sprouts, small deadwood and clean-up of torn stubs. A good pruner closes smoothly, cuts without crushing, and sits comfortably in the hand for hundreds of cuts.

Keep it in a pouch on your saddle or belt so it does not end up on the ground. Other pruners and loppers are in pruners and loppers.

Climbers use hand pruners for fine pruning work that would be slow or untidy with a saw, such as removing small crossing branches, tidying cut ends, and reducing small twigs back to a lateral. Ground workers use them for shrub work and for cleaning up brush before it goes into the chipper.

Care

Wipe sap from the blades during the day; it builds up quickly and makes the pruner stick. Oil the pivot and spring now and then, and keep the pivot bolt adjusted so the blades meet cleanly.

Hone the cutting edge as it dulls. If you work in diseased trees, clean the blades between trees as your plant health practices require.

Keep a spare pair in the truck. Pruners get dropped and lost more than any other tool, and having a backup keeps the job moving.
