PruningGround

This pole saw head kit combines a mounting head with a 16 in Tri-Cut blade, ready to fit on your pruning poles. It is a simple way to turn an existing pole into a reach saw or to replace a worn head.

What you get

The kit is a saw head that fits on a pole plus a 16 in Tri-Cut blade. Sixteen inches is a common working length: long enough for real limbs, short enough to control at the end of several pole sections. The Tri-Cut teeth cut on the pull, which is how you naturally work a pole saw from the ground.

Check that the head matches the fitting on your poles before ordering. Poles and complete kits are in pole saws and scabbards.

Replacing the head and blade together is often the cleanest fix when an old head is cracked, the bolt holes are worn or the blade has been bent one too many times. You get a fresh, matched setup without replacing the poles that are still in good shape.

Using a pole saw well

Start the cut with short strokes to set the kerf, then use the full blade. On larger limbs, a small undercut first helps stop bark tearing back toward the trunk. Stand off to one side so the limb does not drop on you.

Keep clear of power lines, wear a helmet and eye protection, and keep a blade guard on whenever the saw is not cutting. Replace the blade when it dulls or bends.

Store the saw with a guard on the blade and in a pole bag, so the teeth stay sharp and nobody grabs it by the wrong end.
