A cast saw head that turns a pole into a pole saw, or replaces a broken one.
The Marvin cast saw head is the fitting that holds a pruning blade on the end of a pole. It is a simple part, but when the old one cracks or the blade wobbles, a new saw head puts your pole saw back in service without buying a whole kit.
A pole saw takes a beating. Heads get dropped on the truck bed, levered against branch unions and used as a hook to pull hangers down. Over time the casting can crack or the blade seat wears so the blade moves under load. A blade that shifts mid-cut binds, wanders and is hard to control at the end of a long pole.
If the head is cracked, bent, or the blade will not sit tight, replace it. It is a small part that makes the whole tool safer and more accurate.
A good saw head also helps the blade track straight. When the blade seat is worn, the blade can flex sideways in the cut, which leaves a rough face and makes it harder to finish cleanly at the branch collar.
Check that the head matches your pole and blade before you order, since pole fittings vary by maker. Mount the blade with the teeth facing back toward you so it cuts on the pull, and tighten the hardware until there is no play. Recheck it after the first few cuts.
Wipe sap off the head and blade after use and keep the blade guarded in storage. Do not use any pole tool near energized lines unless you are a qualified line-clearance arborist with rated equipment. See more pole saw parts and blades.
Keep a few spare bolts and a wrench in the truck so a loose blade can be tightened on the spot instead of ending the job early.
