PruningGroundMaintenance

The Marvin cast saw head with adapter holds a pruning blade on the end of a pole, with the adapter that joins the head to the pole itself. It is the part to buy when you are building a pole saw or the old head and fitting are both worn out.

Why the adapter version

A saw head on its own needs a matching fitting on the pole. The adapter version gives you that connection in the same purchase, which helps if you are building a pole saw from a bare pole or replacing a head that came off with a damaged fitting.

Check that the adapter matches your pole's size and type before you order, since makers use different fittings. Our pole saws and scabbards section has blades and complete saws if you need more parts.

A solid head matters most at full extension. Any play at the joint is multiplied at the end of a long pole, so the blade wobbles and the cut wanders. A fresh head and adapter take that slop out, and your cuts are easier to start and finish cleanly.

Fitting and care

Mount the adapter securely and attach the blade with the teeth facing back so it cuts on the pull. Tighten everything until there is no play, then check it again after the first few cuts. A loose blade binds and wanders, which makes clean cuts at the branch collar hard.

Wipe sap off after use and keep the blade guarded in storage. Replace the head if the casting cracks or the blade seat wears. Never use a pole tool near energized lines unless you are a qualified line-clearance arborist with rated equipment.
