PruningGround

The Jameson composite lock saw head mounts a pruning saw blade to the end of a Jameson pole using a locking connection, so the head stays put while you cut overhead. It lets you swap or replace the saw end without buying a whole new pole.

Fit and connection

Jameson poles use more than one connection style, so check that your poles use the matching lock fitting before ordering. A secure connection matters on a pole saw, because any wobble at the head turns into a sloppy cut and lost energy at the end of a long pole.

Blades, scabbards and full pole saw kits are in our pole saws and scabbards section.

Replacing a worn or broken head is far cheaper than replacing a full pole section, and keeping a spare head in the truck means a cracked fitting does not end the day. Make sure the replacement locks positively before you start cutting.

Clean sap off the head and blade after each use and store the pole so the head is not knocked around in the truck.

Cutting overhead safely

Stand to the side of the limb so the piece cannot fall on you, wear a helmet and eye protection, and make an undercut on heavier limbs to stop the bark tearing. Let the saw's teeth do the work rather than forcing the stroke.

Fiberglass and composite poles are not automatically safe near power lines. Keep the minimum approach distance for your qualification, and leave line clearance work to qualified line-clearance arborists. Inspect the head and its fitting for cracks before each use and replace damaged parts.
