The fitting that holds a Marvin pole saw head square on the pole.
The Marvin saw head adaptor connects a Marvin pole saw head to the top of a pole. When it cracks or wears loose, the saw head twists in the cut, the blade binds and you lose control of where the kerf goes.
Pole saws are pushed, pulled and pried constantly. Every time a blade pinches and gets wrenched free, the adaptor takes the load. Over time it can crack or loosen on the pole, and you will feel it as play between the head and the pole or a saw that rotates when you start a cut.
A tight adaptor keeps the blade in line with your stroke, so the saw tracks straight and you spend less energy fighting it.
Most adaptor damage comes from prying. When a blade gets pinched in a cut, it is tempting to lever the pole sideways to free it. That puts a big bending load right on the fitting. Instead, ease off, change your angle or relieve the pinch from another cut. Make an undercut on heavier limbs so they don't pinch in the first place. Treating the adaptor kindly keeps the whole pole saw tight and safe overhead, and saves you from a head that lets go and falls toward the crew.
Remove the saw head, take off the old adaptor following Marvin's instructions and fit the new one fully seated and fastened. Reinstall the saw head and blade, then check that nothing moves when you twist the head by hand.
