Why bag your poles

Loose pole sections rattle around a truck bed, get scratched, and go missing. A pole saw head bouncing around uncovered is a cut waiting to happen. A dedicated bag keeps the whole kit together, so the ground worker can grab one bag and have everything needed to reach a limb.

For fiberglass poles, avoiding deep scratches and gouges also matters for the pole itself. Find matching poles and heads in poles and kits.

A good bag also makes it obvious when something is missing. If the bag is the only place pole gear lives, the crew can check at a glance that every section, head and blade guard came back from the job, instead of finding out at the next site that a section was left leaning against a fence.

Packing it well

Put saw heads in with the blade guard or scabbard on, and seat pruner heads so the cutting edge faces away from your hands when you reach in. Wipe sap and mud off before storage so it does not build up inside.

Vinyl wipes clean with mild soap and water. Let the bag and poles dry before closing it up for a long stretch, and check the seams and closure now and then so nothing slides out on the road.

Label the bag with your company name or crew number if several trucks carry similar kits.
