A 12-inch non-metallic link for the pull rope on a pole pruner.
A pruner rope insulator is a short non-metallic link that goes in the pull rope of a pole pruner, here in a 12-inch length. It breaks up a wet or dirty rope run and is part of a properly set up pole pruner.
Pole pruners use a pull rope to close the cutting head. A rope that is wet, dirty or worn can carry current, so many pruner setups include a non-metallic insulator link in the rope run. If yours is cracked, missing or worn, this is the replacement part.
Fit it according to your pruner's instructions and check the rope at both ends for wear. Poles, ferrules and other parts are on our poles and kits page.
Check the rest of the pruner when you replace the insulator. A frayed pull rope, a stiff pulley or a dull cutting head all make the tool harder to use and tempt you to jerk the rope. Replace worn parts together and test the head on the ground before you reach up.
An insulator link does not make a pole tool safe to use near power lines. Work near energized conductors is for trained, qualified line-clearance arborists using equipment rated and tested for that purpose, keeping the minimum approach distances in ANSI Z133 and following OSHA rules. Everyone else stays out of the zone and calls the utility.
Keep the insulator clean and dry and replace it if it is cracked, chipped or contaminated. Store the pruner where the rope and insulator stay dry and out of sun.

No. Only qualified line-clearance arborists with properly rated and tested tools may work near energized lines, and they must keep ANSI Z133 approach distances.
