Replacement upper straps and pads for Edelrid Talon climbing spurs.
The upper strap system for Edelrid Talons lets you refresh worn straps and padding without replacing the spurs. A fresh upper keeps the shank steady and comfortable on long removals.
Uppers wear out faster than shanks. Padding packs down, straps fray and closures lose grip. Swapping in a new upper strap system restores the fit that keeps the gaff angle consistent and your calf comfortable.
Find gaffs and other parts in replacement gaffs and parts.
Edelrid Talons are popular with removal climbers who want a modern, adjustable spur, and the upper is the part that takes the most wear. Sweat, sawdust, bark and pitch all break down padding and straps over a season of hard use. Rather than living with a sloppy fit, replace the upper and get back the support the spur had when it was new.
Install the system following Edelrid's instructions and check that every strap closes securely before climbing. Inspect uppers, lower straps, shanks and gaffs before every climb. Spurs are life-support gear: follow the manufacturer's instructions and ANSI Z133, and be trained before you climb on spikes.
Keep the old upper as a reference while installing the new one, so straps go back in the same orientation. Store your Talons with gaff guards on, and keep the new upper away from fuel, bar oil and solvents.
