The Distel eye bolt M8x11 is a small replacement part for Distel climbers, used where the spur's strap or fitting attaches. Replace one that is worn, bent or lost instead of improvising with hardware-store bolts.

Use the right part

Spur hardware sees a lot of vibration and load. A generic eye bolt may look the same but differ in thread length, material or strength. Using the genuine Distel part keeps the spur working as designed.

Check your Distel model and the part location against Distel's documentation before ordering. Other spur parts are in replacement gaffs and parts.

Distel spurs are built to tight tolerances, and small parts like this are what keep them that way. When a fitting is lost on the job, it is tempting to grab whatever bolt is in the truck. Don't. Order the right part and keep a spare.

Fitting and inspection

Thread the bolt in fully and check that it is tight and sitting square. Look over the surrounding strap and fittings while you are at it.

Inspect all spur hardware before each climb. If you are unsure whether a repair is sound, have a qualified person check it. Follow Distel's instructions and ANSI Z133.

Spur parts are cheap next to a fall or a lost day. Keep a small kit in the climbing bag with a file, a gauge, spare screws and a strap, so a worn part gets swapped at the truck instead of nursed through the rest of the job.
