Climbing

The Petzl 30L rope bucket is a rope bag that holds its shape, so you can stuff a climbing line in fast and let it feed back out without tangles. It keeps the rope clean at the base of the tree and makes the walk from the truck easier.

A bag that stays open

The difference between a rope bucket and a soft sack is speed. When the bag holds its own opening, you can feed rope in with both hands at the end of a climb without fighting the fabric. That means less time on cleanup and a rope that is ready to pay out on the next tree without snarls.

Set it near the base of the tree but out of the drop zone, and tie the tail of the rope to the bag so the end never gets lost or pulled through. Browse other sizes in our rope bags.

On a job with several climbers, separate buckets keep each person's line apart, and a quick look shows which rope is which. That small habit avoids a lot of confusion at the base of a busy tree.

Fit and care

Thirty liters suits a typical climbing line. Longer ropes, thicker diameters, or a second line need a bigger bag. Dry the rope before you store it for long, and keep the bucket away from fuel, bar oil, and other chemicals that can damage textiles.

Clean storage extends rope life, but it does not replace inspection. Run your hands along the line before each climb and retire it according to Petzl's guidance and ANSI Z133 practice.
