Extra-large rope bag for long climbing lines and rigging rope.
The Weaver XL rope bag is a large bag for long climbing lines and rigging rope that will not fit in a standard bag. It keeps the rope clean and flaked so it runs out without tangles, whether you are setting a climbing line or feeding a lowering line to the ground crew.
Tall trees and big removals call for long ropes, and long ropes are the ones that tangle worst when they are piled loose. An XL bag gives a full-length climbing line or a rigging rope room to sit flaked, so the ground crew can feed it without stopping to pick knots.
Label bags by rope so nobody grabs a rigging line when they meant to grab a climbing line. Keep the two separate: rigging rope sees shock loads and abrasion that you do not want in a life-support line.
A big bag also makes it practical to keep a spare line in the truck. Storm work, tall conifers and removals that need a long lowering line all go smoother when the right rope is bagged and ready instead of coiled in the corner of the truck bed.
Shake out sawdust and bark regularly, dry wet rope before storing and keep the bag away from fuel and bar oil.
When you flake rope into the bag, run your hands along it. Bagging is a natural time to feel for flat spots, stiff sections, cuts and glazing, and to catch damage before the next climb rather than at the top of the tree.
