A dedicated throw line bag that keeps line ready to run on the next throw.
The Courant Pelican throw line bag gives your throw line and weights a home that lets the line feed out cleanly on each shot. Line stuffed loose into the bottom of a gear bag tangles; line flaked into a dedicated bag runs.
Setting a line is often the slowest part of starting a climb, and most of that time is spent untangling throw line. Thin, slick line coils, kinks, and grabs sticks and leaves the moment it touches the ground. A throw line bag gives the line somewhere clean to sit, open-mouthed, so it feeds out freely when the weight goes up. It also keeps line clean, which matters because grit and sap make throw line stiff and slow.
Courant designs gear for working climbers, and a dedicated bag like the Pelican is one of those small items that saves a few minutes on every tree.
Feed the line into the bag loosely by hand rather than coiling it, so it pays out without twists. Keep the bag open and upright near your feet while throwing, and keep the weight clear of the line so it does not snag on the way out. Some climbers keep a spare weight clipped in the bag so they can switch sizes without walking back to the truck.
Shake out sawdust and twigs now and then, and check the line for fuzzing or damage as you pack it. Our throw weight and line section has line, weights, and kits to go with it.

No. Stuff it loosely by hand. Coiling adds twists that turn into tangles when you throw.
Keep one line per bag or compartment so they do not tangle with each other.
