Climbing

Samson Zing-It 2.2mm throwline is a slick, coated line made from Dyneema fiber for setting climbing and rigging lines in trees. The 2.2 mm size is thicker than the standard Zing-It, making it easier to handle and grip.

Why choose 2.2 mm Zing-It

Zing-It is one of the most common arborist throwlines because its coating makes it slick and long-lasting. The 2.2 mm size is a bit thicker, so it's easier to grab with gloves, tangles a little less, and is easier to spot in the canopy.

The trade-off is a bit more drag on long throws. Many climbers keep both sizes. Compare with other throw line.

Samson's Zing-It is a staple in many arborist kits, and the line has a reputation for durability. The coating protects the Dyneema fibers from abrasion and helps the line shed dirt and water.

Throwing and care

Store the line in a cube or bag so it feeds cleanly, and clear the throw zone before every throw.

Throwline is for setting lines, never for life support. Replace sections that are frayed or flattened, and keep the line clean so the coating lasts longer.

A throwline that is muddy or tangled is slow to use. Rinse it, dry it, and flake it back into the cube at the end of the day. Many climbers cut a damaged section out and retie the throw weight rather than replace the whole line. Use a throw weight matched to the line and the height you need to reach.
