Arbortec Breatheflex Pro chainsaw pants are lightweight, breathable saw pants with Type C protection, meaning the protective layers wrap around the leg rather than just the front. They are a common choice for climbers who run a top-handle saw aloft, where a cut can come from any angle.

Why Type C for climbers

Most chainsaw pants protect the front of the leg, because that is where a ground operator usually gets cut. In the tree you are moving around the saw, so a cut can reach the back of the leg too. Type C pants put protective layers around the whole leg, which is why they are popular with climbers.

The Breatheflex Pro line uses stretch fabric to keep the pants comfortable while climbing and moving around. Check the labels on the pair you buy for the exact protection class and standards, and see our chainsaw pants for other options.

Black is a practical choice for daily wear since it hides sap, dirt and bar oil well. Many climbers pair saw pants with a stretch work shirt or the matching Breatheflex jackets for a full kit that moves well aloft.

Fit, care and retirement

Get a fit that lets you lift your knees fully without the protection shifting. Wash them as the label directs, since the wrong detergent or heat can damage the protective layer.

Retire chainsaw pants once the protective layer is cut, as the fibers that stop the chain are pulled out. Saw protection reduces injury but does not make you immune; use proper technique and training under ANSI Z133.
