An adjustable 5/8 in. loop sling that sets from about 2 to 8 ft.
This 5/8 in. loopie sling is an adjustable loop that sets anywhere from about 2 to 8 ft, so one sling can choke small leaders or wrap larger stems. Use it to hang a block, set a ring or anchor a lowering device.
A loopie is a close cousin of the whoopie sling. Both adjust by sliding through a hollow-braid section, but a loopie forms a closed loop rather than an eye on a tail. Wrap it around the stem, clip your block or ring, and tighten it to fit.
The 5/8 in. size suits everyday removals and heavier rigging points. Browse other adjustable slings to compare.
Before each job, run the sling through your hands. Look for cut or pulled strands, glazed or melted fibers, flat or stiff spots, and heavy UV fading, and check that the splices and buries are intact. Retire it if you find damage you can't explain or after a shock load bigger than you planned for.
Check the bury section especially: it is what holds the adjustment, and a worn or stiff bury may not grip under load. Rigging gear is for moving wood, not for life support. Match every component to the load with a working margin, follow the manufacturer's ratings and ANSI Z133, and make sure the crew is trained in rigging before relying on it. Note when each piece went into service, so worn gear gets retired on time instead of living on the truck for years.

Both are adjustable. A whoopie has a fixed eye at one end; a loopie forms an adjustable closed loop.
