Square-profile string trimmer line for clean cuts in grass and weeds.
Husqvarna Trim Force square trim line is a square-profile string trimmer line made for cutting through grass and weeds cleanly. The square edges bite into stems better than round line, which helps on thick growth along fences, beds and tree bases.
Round trimmer line is durable and cheap, but it tends to smash and tear grass rather than slice it. Square trim line has four edges that act like small blades as the head spins. The result is a cleaner cut, especially in tough weeds and thick grass, and a neater finish along edges.
For tree crews and landscapers, that matters around the base of trees, along fence lines and in overgrown corners where round line struggles. Square line can wear a little faster on concrete and stone edges, so pick the right line for the job.
Many landscape crews keep both on the truck: square line for lawns and overgrown areas, round line for heavy edging along hardscape. Matching the line to the job saves time and line.
Husqvarna string trimmer line comes in different diameters, and the right one depends on your trimmer head and engine. Thicker line cuts heavier growth and lasts longer, but it needs more power to spin. Too thick a line on a small trimmer makes the engine bog and wears out the clutch.
Check your trimmer head or operator's manual for the recommended diameter range. If you run a mix of light and heavy trimmers, keep a spool of each size on the truck and label them.
Buying line in larger spools saves money for crews that trim every day, while smaller packs make sense for homeowners. Either way, the same rules apply: the right diameter for your head, wound neatly and stored properly.
Wind line evenly onto the spool in the direction marked on the head, keeping it tight and not crossing the two sides on dual-line heads. Leave the right length out of the eyelets and trim excess before starting. Uneven winding causes line to jam and stop feeding.
Store trimmer line out of direct sun and away from heat. Line that dries out becomes brittle and breaks more easily. Some users soak line in water before loading to help keep it flexible. Keep spools in a sealed bag or bin to stop them drying out over the season.
If your trimmer has a bump-feed head, keep the bump knob and eyelets clean and replace worn eyelets. Worn eyelets cut line and cause it to break off short.
Wear eye protection, hearing protection and long pants. Trimmers throw debris hard and fast. Keep bystanders and pets well back, and be careful around tree trunks: repeated trimmer contact damages bark and can seriously injure young trees. A mulch ring around tree bases cuts down on trimming close to the trunk.

Square line usually cuts cleaner in thick grass and weeds. Round line can be more durable along concrete and stone edges.
Check your trimmer head or manual. Use the diameter range it recommends for your engine and head.
Usually, as long as the diameter matches what your trimmer head accepts.
