Aluminum-handled pickaroon for moving rounds, logs and firewood without bending.
The LogRite hookaroon is a pickaroon with a lightweight aluminum handle and a steel pick that bites into wood so you can drag, lift and flip it without grabbing it by hand. It is made in the USA and built for people who move a lot of wood.
Moving firewood and rounds is the part of the job nobody brags about, but it takes a lot of time and a lot of backs. A hookaroon cuts the bending in half. Swing the pick into a round, lift or drag it where it needs to go and pop it free.
LogRite uses aluminum for its handles, so the tool stays light enough to swing all day and will not crack or swell from weather. The pick is set to bite cleanly and release with a twist. Users tend to keep them for years.
It is also a good length for most people to use standing upright. You can reach a round a step away, pull it in and lift it to waist height without stooping, which adds up to a lot less strain over a day of splitting and stacking.
Tree crews use the LogRite hookaroon after a removal to sort rounds, drag pieces to the trailer and pull wood off the pile without climbing on it. Firewood producers use it to load splitters, toss split wood onto a conveyor and stack cords. Homeowners use it to move their own firewood without wrecking their backs.
For rolling heavy logs, a LogRite cant hook gives far more leverage. A hookaroon is the faster tool for everything smaller.
On storm jobs, where there is a lot of wood to clear quickly, a couple of hookaroons on the crew can noticeably speed up how fast a yard gets cleaned. Ground people spend less time bent over and more time moving wood.
Know where the pick will go before you swing it. Keep your feet and other people out of the way, and do not swing toward anyone. Set the point firmly before pulling so it does not pop out and send you off balance. Lift with your legs and keep your back straight.
Do not use it to pry heavy logs under load or as a hammer. Keep wood moving downhill under control, and stay out of the path of a round that could roll. Wear gloves and boots with toe protection.
Never use it near a running chipper or splitter's moving parts. Set the wood down where the operator can feed it safely.
Keep the point reasonably sharp with a file so it bites without having to swing hard. Check that the head is tight on the handle. Store it point-down or covered so nobody reaches into the truck and catches a hand on it. An aluminum handle needs little care beyond a wipe-down, but inspect it for dents or bends after a hard knock and replace it if it is damaged.
Mark your hookaroon with crew or company paint. They are popular tools and tend to wander off between jobs.
If the pick wears short or gets damaged from hitting rocks, check whether a replacement head is available before buying a whole new tool.
