Ground

Husqvarna timber tongs grab a log or round with two pointed jaws so you can drag or lift it with a straight back. The 12 inch size suits firewood rounds, brush stems, and short logs on cleanup.

Where tongs earn their place

Cleanup after a removal is mostly lifting and dragging. Tongs let you hook a round, pull it to the pile or the trailer, and keep your fingers out from under it. With two people on a pair each, you can carry a heavier piece between you.

The 12 inch size is handy for rounds and stems you would otherwise grab by hand. For rolling bigger wood, look at a peavey in our log handling tools.

Tongs also help when stacking rounds or loading a trailer, since they keep your back straighter and your gloves out of the pinch between logs. They are cheap enough to keep a pair on every truck.

Use and care

Set the points into solid wood, not bark that can shear off, and pull straight. The jaws tighten as you pull, so a firm set holds well.

Keep the points sharp with a file and check the pivot for wear. Stay clear of the saw operator and watch your footing on slash.

Inspect for cracks near the pivot and loose rivets or bolts. Use them on wood you can safely handle and get help or a machine for anything bigger. Wear gloves and boots with good grip on slash and wet ground.
