Ground

This bow rake pairs a rigid steel head with a 54 in wood handle, the size most ground crews reach for when the brush is chipped and the yard still needs to look clean. It moves chips, sawdust, and small debris without flexing like a leaf rake.

Where a bow rake earns its spot on the truck

Cleanup is the part of the job the customer remembers. After the chipper is done, there is always a layer of chips, sawdust, and snapped twigs under the drop zone and along the path to the truck. A leaf rake skates over that material. A bow rake digs into it and pulls it into a pile you can shovel or blow onto a tarp.

Flip the head over and the flat back works for spreading mulch, smoothing a stump-grinding hole after backfill, or knocking down ruts left by a loader. The 54 in handle gives enough reach to work without bending all day.

On a removal with a big chip pile, one person raking while another shovels into the truck or onto a tarp gets the yard clean fast, and the customer sees the difference at the final walk-around.

Care and use tips

Keep the rake out of the chipper infeed zone and never use it to push brush toward the rollers; feed with branches, not hand tools. Store it head-down or hung so the handle does not warp, and sand and oil the wood once a season if it starts to splinter.

Steel tines can bend if you pry roots or rocks with them. Use a mattock or bar for that and save the rake for raking. More cleanup tools are in our landscaper tools section.
