Husqvarna X-Tough Chainsaw Bar 3/8" .050"

The Husqvarna X-Tough bar is a solid steel guide bar for professional saws running 3/8" pitch, .050" gauge chain. It is built for removals, big-wood bucking, and felling where a lighter laminated bar would flex or wear out too soon.

When to step up to a solid bar

Laminated bars are light and fine for most climbing and limbing work. On the ground saw that bucks big logs all day, though, a solid bar like the X-Tough holds its rails longer, shrugs off pinches better, and can be dressed and turned many times before it is done.

It adds weight, so it makes the most sense on a 70 cc and larger saw where balance already favors a longer bar. Compare lengths and mounts in our chainsaw bars.

Solid bars are also easier to straighten after a minor bend and to dress back to square on a grinder or with a rail tool. On a busy removal crew that adds months of service compared with a bar that is thrown away after one pinch.

Getting the fit right

Three things have to match: the mount on your saw, the 3/8" pitch and .050" gauge of the chain, and the drive link count for the length you choose. Check your saw's manual or the old bar's stamping before ordering. A bar that fits the studs but not the oiler hole will run dry and wear fast.

Flip the bar each time you change the chain, file burrs off the rails, keep the oil hole and groove clean, and grease the nose sprocket. Always run a sharp, properly tensioned chain and wear chainsaw protective gear.
