This X-Precision Husqvarna bar is built for the X-Cut SP21G chain, a narrow-kerf .325-inch mini pitch, .043-inch gauge system. The bar and chain combination takes less wood per cut, so a compatible saw cuts faster and uses less power.

Why a narrow kerf

A narrower chain removes less wood with each pass, so more of the engine's power goes into cutting speed. The X-Precision system pairs a thin bar with Husqvarna's X-Cut SP21G chain to get that benefit on mid-size saws. For climbers and ground crews running compatible saws, the result is a quicker, smoother cut.

The tradeoff is that you must match the system. This bar only runs the matching .325 mini pitch, .043 gauge chain and a compatible sprocket.

It suits climbers and ground workers who want a lighter, faster-cutting setup on a mid-size saw.

It is also less tiring to carry aloft.

Before switching, compare the cost of the matched chain and sprocket as well as the bar.

Fit and care

Check that your saw is listed as compatible with X-Precision and confirm the length before ordering. Use the correct rim or spur sprocket.

Flip the bar regularly, keep the groove and oil holes clean, and dress the rails as they wear. Keep the chain sharp and correctly tensioned. See more chainsaw bars.

When the rails wear or the bar bends, replace it with another X-Precision bar rather than a standard one, so the narrow chain keeps running in a matched groove. Check the nose sprocket for roughness or play.

Store spare chain with the bar.
