PruningMaintenance

This Husqvarna pole saw bar is a 12 inch replacement guide bar for gas powered pole saws that run a 44 drive link chain. When the rails are worn or the tip is tired, a fresh bar brings back straight, efficient cuts overhead.

Confirming fit

Pole saw bars are not universal. Match the mount pattern, gauge and drive link count to your saw before ordering. The fastest check is the numbers stamped on your current bar and the specs in your operator's manual.

Pair this bar with a matching 44 drive link chain. A chain with the wrong pitch or gauge will not seat in the groove or on the sprocket, and running a mismatched setup wears everything out fast. Matching chain is in chainsaw bars and the chain section.

Write the bar's part numbers on the inside of your saw case or in the truck log. When the bar wears out mid-season, you can reorder the right one in minutes instead of guessing from a worn stamp.

When to replace a bar

On a pole saw, a bad bar shows up as cuts that wander or a chain that leans in the groove. Dress light rail burrs with a flat file, flip the bar at each chain change so it wears evenly, and keep the oil hole clear.

Replace the bar when the rails are worn uneven, the groove is too shallow to hold the drive links, or the nose is damaged. A new bar costs less than the time lost fighting a crooked cut at the end of a pole.

Pole saws spend a lot of time cutting small, springy limbs at a long reach, which loads the bar unevenly. Keep the chain correctly tensioned and let the saw do the cutting rather than forcing it, and the bar will last longer and cut straighter. Clean the groove with a scraper at each chain change.
