FellingGroundPro grade

This Husqvarna 36 inch bar runs 3/8 pitch, .063 gauge chain and is meant for the big-displacement Husqvarna saws used to fell and buck large trees. It is a specialty length you reach for when a removal leaves you with wood a 24 or 28 inch bar cannot get through.

When you need a 36 inch bar

Most removals never need more than a 20 to 28 inch bar. Then you get a big oak or a cottonwood with a butt too wide to cut from both sides, and a long bar saves a lot of time and repositioning. A 36 inch bar is also handy for slabbing and for big stumps.

It takes a big saw to pull this much chain. Run it on a high-displacement Husqvarna like the 395XP or 3120XP class. A mid-size saw will bog and wear quickly.

Long bars also help when you need to reach across a big log on the ground without climbing on top of it, or when you are working a huge stump down close to grade.

Fit, chain, and handling

Check your saw's mount and sprocket, and buy a 3/8 pitch, .063 gauge chain with the drive link count that matches this bar. Compare other lengths in chainsaw bars.

A long bar has more kickback zone and more weight out front. Keep a solid stance, wear chaps, a helmet, and eye and ear protection, and only run big saws if you are trained to fell large trees.

Keep the bar rails dressed, flip the bar regularly so it wears evenly, and keep the oil hole and groove clean. A long bar needs plenty of oil, so check that your saw's oiler is set high enough to keep the full length wet.
