A 12 oz throw bag and line, a good all-round choice for most trees.
The Weaver 12 oz throw weight and line kit gives you a mid-weight throw bag and throw line for setting climbing lines and rigging points from the ground. A 12 oz bag is a good all-round weight: light enough to throw high, heavy enough to come back down through most canopies.
If you only carry one throw bag, a mid-weight is the sensible pick. It flies high enough for most residential and park trees, and it has enough mass to pull line back down through moderate foliage and over a rough union. Lighter bags go higher but hang up easier; heavier ones punch through but take more effort.
Climbers who work big, dense trees often add a heavier bag later. See other bags and lines in our throw line section.
For a first kit, a mid-weight bag is also forgiving while you build your technique. It does not punish a sloppy throw as much as a heavy bag, and it is easier to retrieve when the bag lands in a crotch you did not intend. Practice in an open area before throwing over a work tree.
Check the drop zone, call your throw, and keep well away from power lines according to ANSI Z133. Throw with a smooth underhand swing and watch the bag all the way down.
Store the line in a bag or cube so it pays out cleanly. Inspect it for nicks and fused spots and replace it when worn. Throw line is only for pulling up a climbing or rigging line, never for climbing or rigging loads.

Yes. It is a balanced weight that suits most trees and is easy to learn on.
Stuff it loosely into a cube or bag rather than coiling it, and let it pay out from the bag when you throw.
