A thin, slick throwline from Petzl for setting climbing lines.
Petzl Airline is a thin, slick throwline made for arborists to set climbing and rigging lines in the canopy. Its smooth finish lets it slide over bark and through unions with little friction, and it pairs with Petzl's Jet throw weights or any common throw bag.
A good throwline gets out of the way: it pays out without tangles, slides over bark so you can walk the line where you want it, and pulls a climbing line into place without sawing at the tree. Airline is thin and slick, which keeps friction down and lets a moderate throw bag gain height.
Pair it with a throw weight that suits the canopy and store it in a cube. Other lines and kits are in our throw line section.
Once the line is over a limb, the slick finish also helps when you need to isolate a union. You can flip the line along a branch, pull the bag up to a lower crotch, or walk it around to a better tie-in point without fighting friction. That saves throws, and saves your arm on a long day of setting lines for climbs and rigging.
Check the drop zone before every throw and keep well clear of power lines, following ANSI Z133 approach distances. Watch the bag on the way down.
Stuff the line loosely into its storage bag after each use. Inspect it for flat spots, fused areas, and abrasion, and replace it once it starts to break. Throwline is never for climbing or for holding a load.

Yes. It works with common throw weights; tie it on with a secure knot.
Less diameter means less friction over bark and through unions, so the bag gets more height and the line is easier to pull through.
