ClimbingPro grade

The Teufelberger webbing bridge is a flat textile bridge made for Teufelberger's treeMOTION saddles. Some climbers prefer webbing to a round rope bridge for the way a ring or connector rides on it.

Webbing or rope bridge

Rope bridges are the most common choice, but a webbing bridge has a different feel. A flat bridge spreads contact across a wider surface, and some climbers find a ring or carabiner tracks along it differently than on round rope. Others simply want a spare that matches what came on their saddle.

Whatever you choose, the bridge is the part that takes the most wear on a saddle. It is designed to be replaced, so keep a spare and do not try to stretch the life of a worn one.

Webbing is also easy to inspect: cuts and abrasion show clearly across the flat surface. If you run a ring on the bridge, check where the ring sits all day, since that is usually where wear shows up first. Keep a spare in the truck, stored dry and away from fuel and oil.

Installing and inspecting

Make sure the bridge matches your treeMOTION model and version, then install it exactly as Teufelberger shows. Before each climb, look for cuts, abrasion through the weave, glazing, stiff spots, and damaged stitching. Retire it at the first sign of damage. Other saddle parts are listed in this category.

Life-support gear must meet the applicable standard (ANSI Z133 and the manufacturer's instructions), be inspected before every climb, and be used only by trained climbers.
