The Buckingham ErgoLite replacement bridge is the part you fit when the bridge on your ErgoLite saddle wears. Replacing the bridge on schedule keeps the saddle in service without buying a new one.

Why bridges wear out

The bridge is the part of a saddle that takes the most abuse. Your climbing system slides back and forth on it all day, and sawdust, grit and heat from a running hitch wear it down. It is designed to be replaced long before the rest of the saddle.

Keeping a spare bridge on hand means you can swap it as soon as it shows wear rather than climbing on a part you are unsure about.

Replacing the bridge yourself also gives you a chance to look closely at the rest of the saddle, including the attachment points the bridge runs through. If those show wear, deal with them before putting the saddle back in service. Keep notes on when you changed the bridge so you can plan the next replacement and spot faster wear early. A bridge is a cheap part compared with what it protects, so replace it early rather than late.

Fitting and inspection

Install the bridge exactly as Buckingham describes for the ErgoLite. Check that any knots, stitching or connectors are set correctly before you load it.

Inspect the bridge before every climb for abrasion, glazing, cuts and stiffness, and replace it at the first sign of wear. Saddles are life support, so use one within the maker's instructions and ANSI Z133 practice, inspect it before every climb and get trained. Browse more saddle parts.
