ClimbingPro grade

The Petzl seat for SEQUOIA and SEQUOIA SRT is an add-on seat that clips to those saddles and gives extra support under your thighs. It helps when you hang in one spot for a long time, such as a detailed pruning job or a long rigging setup.

When a seat helps

Leg straps carry your weight on narrow bands. After a long stretch hanging in one place, that pressure adds up. A seat spreads the weight across the backs of your thighs so you can stay put longer without losing circulation or focus.

That is useful on detailed pruning climbs, cabling and bracing work, or rigging where you spend time in one spot.

A seat is also a good fit for climbers who spend long stretches waiting in the canopy, such as during rigging operations where the ground crew needs time to clear wood between pieces. It does add a little bulk, so many climbers fit it on days they expect long stationary work and leave it off for quick pruning climbs. Store it with the saddle so it is ready when a long day comes up.

Fitting and inspection

Attach the seat as Petzl shows for your SEQUOIA model and check that it does not interfere with the bridge, leg loops or gear loops.

Inspect the seat and its connections before every climb. It adds comfort but does not replace any part of the saddle. Saddles are life support, so use one within the maker's instructions and ANSI Z133 practice, inspect it before every climb and get trained. See more saddle parts.
