ClimbingPro grade

The Petzl Sequoia adjustable bridge is the replacement bridge for Sequoia tree climbing saddles. The bridge is the most worn part of the saddle, so replacing it on schedule keeps the harness in service.

Why bridges wear out first

Every climb runs a carabiner or swivel back and forth across the bridge. It slides as you move around the tree and takes the weight each time you sit back. Over a season that wear adds up faster than on any other part of the saddle. Replacing the bridge when it is worn keeps the saddle working without buying a whole new harness.

Adjustable length lets you set where the attachment point sits relative to your body, which affects comfort and how the climbing system hangs. Browse more saddle parts in our saddle parts and shoulder harnesses.

Many climbers keep a spare bridge in their kit. A bridge can be cut or damaged on the job, and having a factory replacement on hand means the saddle is back in service the same day.

Installing and inspecting

Install the bridge exactly as Petzl describes for your Sequoia model, and check that every connection is correct before you load it. If you are unsure, have a qualified person check it before you climb.

Inspect the bridge before every climb for cuts, glazing, flattened spots, and wear where hardware rides. Replace it at the first sign of damage or as Petzl's instructions require. Life-support gear must follow the maker's instructions and ANSI Z133 practice.
