ClimbingFelling

The Weaver chainsaw strap with snap, often searched as a chainsaw belt, attaches your saw to your saddle so it hangs out of the way while you climb and stays with you if you drop it. It is a simple, durable way to carry a top-handle saw aloft.

How it is used

The strap goes on the saw's lanyard ring and the snap clips to a saddle ring set aside for the saw. When you are not cutting, the saw hangs at your side, out of the way of your climbing line and lanyard.

Keep the saw away from your climbing system and never clip the saw strap to a life-support attachment point.

Hanging the saw from a strap also means you do not have to hold it while you reposition or climb a few feet. That frees both hands for your lanyard and climbing line, which is where they should be when you move.

Set the strap length so the saw hangs where it does not swing into your legs or your lanyard, and where you can reach it quickly without looking down.

Checks

Inspect the strap for cuts, abrasion and chain damage, and the snap for wear. A strap that has been nicked by the chain should be replaced. Climbing with a chainsaw requires training and the right PPE, including chainsaw-rated protection where applicable. More options are in chainsaw lanyards.

Clean sawdust and bar oil off the strap at the end of the day, and let it dry before storing. Oil and fuel can weaken webbing over time.
