A stretch saw lanyard that stays short when stowed and reaches when you cut.
This bungee chainsaw lanyard with a carabiner stretches when you reach with the saw and pulls back in when you let it hang. That keeps the saw close to your body and the lanyard out of the way while you work aloft.
A fixed saw lanyard has a set length: too short and it limits your reach, too long and the saw swings and catches. A bungee lanyard solves both by stretching under use and contracting when the saw hangs.
Many climbers like a bungee lanyard for pruning and removals where they cut at different reaches all day. Compare other styles in chainsaw lanyards.
The carabiner end makes it quick to move the saw between tool points or hand it to another climber. Use a carabiner that suits tool attachment and keep it separate from your life-support connectors so there is no confusion.
Clip the carabiner to a tool point on your saddle and the other end to the saw's tie ring. It is a tool tether only, never part of your climbing system.
Bungee loses stretch with age and sun. Check for a cut or stiff sheath, hot muffler damage and a sticky carabiner gate. Replace it when it no longer pulls the saw back in.
Keep the lanyard away from the muffler while the saw is hot, especially when hanging it from your saddle. Heat damage to bungee can be hard to spot, so look closely at the area nearest the saw. Store it out of the sun when it is not in use.

It keeps the saw close when hanging and still lets you reach when cutting, so there is less slack to snag.
It depends on use and sun exposure. Replace it when the bungee loses its pull or the sheath is damaged.
