ClimbingPro grade

The Rock Exotica rockO Orca Lock carabiner is a large, roomy aluminum connector with an auto-locking Orca gate. Its size and smooth gate make it popular for anchors, devices and lanyard connections on climbing and rescue systems.

Why climbers like the rockO

The rockO has a big basket and a generous gate opening, so it clips large eye splices, rings and device attachment points without fuss. Arborists use it as a master carabiner on an anchor, to attach SRS devices, or to connect a lanyard to a saddle.

When choosing between carabiners, think about how often you clip and unclip it. A large, smooth-opening carabiner like the rockO makes repeated clipping easier on cold days and with gloves on.

The Orca gate locks automatically and is designed to open smoothly with gloves on. Compare it with our other auto-locking carabiners.

Inspection and care

Check that the gate snaps shut and locks every time. Look for wear grooves, cracks, burrs or corrosion and keep it free of sap and grit.

Treat it as life-support gear: follow the manufacturer's instructions, check it before every climb, and retire it after a hard fall, a drop onto a hard surface, or any damage you can't explain. Use it within an ANSI Z133 program and only after proper training.

Keep your rockO carabiners clean and dry, and store them away from chemicals and corrosive materials. Mark them if you use them for different roles so they stay in the right place on your saddle.
