DMM Revolver Carabiner

The DMM Revolver carabiner has a small pulley wheel built into its basket, so rope runs over a rolling sheave instead of bare metal. That cuts friction on redirects, hauling lines and simple mechanical advantage setups.

Where the Revolver helps

Every time rope bends over a carabiner it loses energy to friction. The Revolver's wheel lets the rope roll instead, which makes a difference on redirects, hauling a rope or tool up to a climber, or building a quick 3:1 to tension a line. Climbers also use it to tend slack on a hitch system.

Climbers who use the Revolver often clip it to a bridge or a point on their saddle so they can pull slack through quickly as they climb. It is also a handy redirect on a long limb walk, where reducing friction makes it easier to keep tension on your system.

Care and inspection

Check that the wheel spins freely and that the gate closes and locks. Rinse out grit and sap, which can jam the wheel.

Treat it as life-support gear: follow the manufacturer's instructions, check it before every climb, and retire it after a hard fall, a drop onto a hard surface, or any damage you can't explain. Use it within an ANSI Z133 program and only after proper training.

Keep the Revolver with your climbing gear, clean and dry, and retire it if the wheel wobbles, grinds or will not spin freely.
