A locking DMM carabiner in matt gray for everyday climbing connections.
The DMM Zodiac carabiner is a locking aluminum connector in a low-glare matt gray finish. It is a practical choice for routine connections on a climbing system, such as hitch-to-bridge or lanyard ends.
A tree climber's saddle can carry half a dozen locking connectors, each doing a slightly different job. The Zodiac is a general-purpose locker: clip it to a lanyard eye, use it between a hitch and your bridge, or keep it as a spare for building anchors.
Before you buy, think about what the Zodiac will carry. A rope eye, a micro pulley and a hitch cord all take space in the basket, and a connector that is too small will crowd the gate and pinch the hitch. Lay your gear out and clip it together on the ground to check the fit before you commit it to your climbing system.
Check the strength markings on the spine and confirm the gate type before you assign it to a life-support role. You can compare shapes and gate styles in our auto-locking carabiners.
Load carabiners along the spine and avoid three-way loading or loading across the gate. Keep them out of fuel and bar oil, which collect grit and slow the gate.
Treat it as life-support gear: follow the manufacturer's instructions, check it before every climb, and retire it after a hard fall, a drop onto a hard surface, or any damage you can't explain. Use it within an ANSI Z133 program and only after proper training.
