RiggingPro grade

A 4 ft endless loop polyester round sling is a short, soft sling for choking smaller stems, setting rigging points, and lifting logs at the landing. It has no eyes or hardware, so it lies flat against the wood and comes free easily.

Where a short round sling earns its place

Long slings get all the attention on crane jobs, but a 4 ft round sling is the one you reach for on smaller stems, limbs, and logs. Choked around a leader it makes a quick pick point. Doubled around a log at the landing it lets the loader or crane lift it without scarring. It also makes a tidy rigging point for a block on a modest limb. Keep a couple in the truck for odd jobs like lifting a log onto a trailer.

Because it is soft and has no hardware, it will not chew bark, and it is easy to hand up to a climber or clip to the boom.

Read the tag, inspect every lift

Every round sling carries a tag with its rated capacity for vertical, choker, and basket hitches. The choker rating is lower, and basket capacity drops as leg angles widen. If the tag is missing or unreadable, take the sling out of service.

Look for cuts, burns, melted spots, exposed core yarns, and damaged stitching before each use, and keep the sling away from the chain. Crane and rigging work should follow ANSI Z133, the sling maker's instructions, and a qualified operator. See all crane slings for longer sizes.
