The Petzl Newton EasyFit is a full-body fall arrest harness designed to be put on quickly, with a vest-style layout that keeps the straps from tangling. This is the international version, which is built to a different standard set than Petzl's ANSI-specific model.

Where a fall arrest harness fits in tree work

A tree climbing saddle is built for work positioning, but some jobs need fall arrest: bucket trucks and aerial lifts, rooftop access and some industrial sites. The Newton EasyFit is a full-body harness designed for that role. Its vest-style construction holds its shape, so you can put it on quickly without sorting out twisted straps.

The international version is built to standards used outside the US. Petzl also makes an ANSI version for North American markets. Check which standard your employer, client or regulator requires before you buy. See more fall protection for lanyards and other components.

For bucket truck work, the harness is used with a fall arrest lanyard and an anchor point approved by the lift manufacturer. Follow the lift maker's guidance on where and how to connect, and make sure everyone in the basket is trained on the system.

Fit, use and inspection

Adjust the leg loops and shoulder straps so the harness is snug, with the dorsal attachment between the shoulder blades. Connect only to anchors and lanyards rated for fall arrest, and use the attachment points as the manufacturer directs.

Inspect webbing, stitching and buckles before each use and retire the harness after any fall. Fall arrest equipment must meet the standards that apply to your jobsite and be used by trained workers following the manufacturer's instructions.

Store the harness clean and dry, away from chemicals and sunlight, and keep a written inspection record if your employer requires one.
