SafetyGround

This 3M mesh screen mounts on a hard hat alongside Peltor earmuffs to keep chips, sawdust, and twigs off your face while you cut. Mesh stays cooler and fogs less than a clear shield, which is why so many saw users prefer it.

Mesh versus clear shields

When you are bucking, limbing, or feeding a chipper, the face takes a steady shower of chips and sawdust. A mesh screen blocks the larger debris while letting air through, so it does not fog up on a hot day or in the rain the way clear plastic does.

This screen mounts with Peltor earmuffs on a hard hat, so you get face and hearing protection together. Check fit with your hard hat and muffs before ordering. Compare other eye protection options.

It does not replace safety glasses

Mesh screens stop chips, not fine dust or small fast fragments. Wear rated safety glasses under the screen every time you run a saw or chipper. Check the screen for tears, dents, and a loose mount, and replace it once damaged.

Mesh screens also make it easier to work in the rain or on cold mornings, when a clear shield fogs from your breath within minutes. Flip it up between cuts to talk with the crew or check a rigging point, then drop it again before you start the saw. Keep a spare screen in the truck in case one is bent.
