Safety

This Sena Tufftalk Lite replacement microphone restores the mic on your earmuff headset after it gets torn, cracked, or worn out. Swapping the mic is far cheaper than replacing the headset.

Why keep a spare mic

Headset mics live a hard life on a tree crew: they catch on branches, get knocked by helmets coming off, and get crushed in gear bags. When the mic goes, the climber can still hear but cannot be heard, which defeats the point of a communication headset on a job where clear calls matter.

This replacement is made for the Tufftalk Lite, so you can fix it in the field and keep the crew talking. See other crew communication gear for headsets and accessories.

Fitting and care

Follow Sena's instructions to connect the mic to the headset, and position it close to your mouth so it picks up your voice over saw noise. Keep it away from the saw and from pinch points when you take the helmet off.

Keep a spare mic in the truck with the charging cables. A broken mic often happens at the start of a big job, and being able to swap it on the spot keeps the climber and ground crew working with the same calls they rely on every day. Store the spare in a small case so it does not get crushed under other gear.

A headset supports clear communication but does not replace agreed hand signals and command-and-response calls. Set those up with the crew before work starts, as ANSI Z133 expects.
