Flat 4 ft webbing sling for crane picks, chokers and general rigging.
A 4 foot eye-to-eye webbing sling is a flat sling with a sewn eye at each end. Crews use it as a choker on crane picks and as an anchor sling for blocks on smaller stems.
Flat webbing has a wide footprint, so it grips the stem and is gentler on bark than chain or wire. On crane removals, slings choke each pick and connect to the hook. On conventional rigging they make quick anchors for a block or a lowering device.
A 4 foot sling fits smaller picks and stems. For big wood you may need longer slings, wider webbing or a basket hitch to get the capacity.
Webbing slings stack flat and weigh little, so a crew can bring several lengths on every job. The 4 foot size is often used in pairs or as a short choker on smaller limbs, and it is easy to tell apart from longer slings in the bag by color or tag.
Read the tag. Webbing slings are rated by hitch type, and a choker hitch carries less than a vertical or basket hitch. On a crane pick, the sling capacity has to match the actual weight plus the dynamic load, and that is the crane operator and rigger's call together.
Remove any sling from service with cuts, burns, holes, broken stitching, chemical damage or a missing tag. Keep slings away from the chainsaw cut. Browse more crane slings for longer lengths.
