An 8 mm sewn eye-to-eye hitch cord from Courant in Pink Dragon color.
The Courant Phoenix eye to eye prusik is an 8 mm hitch cord with sewn eyes, made for tying friction hitches on your climbing line. The Pink Dragon color makes it easy to spot on a busy saddle.
Sewn eyes are compact and consistent, so the cord sits neatly in a carabiner and the hitch dresses the same way every time. Tie your preferred hitch, add a micro pulley above it if you tend with one hand, and set it before every climb.
Courant makes ropes and hitch cords for tree work, and Phoenix is one of its hitch cord options. As with any cord, how it grips depends on the rope you pair it with.
Matching cord to rope is the part that takes time. A cord that grips perfectly on one line may slip or bind on another, especially when the rope is new and slick or old and fuzzy. Try a few wrap counts and hitch styles low to the ground, and note what works for each of your climbing lines.
Check the cord for glazing and stiffness and look closely at the sewn terminations for cut or abraded stitching. Retire it after a hard fall, heat damage, or any doubt. Do not try to repair sewn eyes yourself.
Compare other eye-and-eye prusiks. Life-support gear must meet the applicable standard (ANSI Z133 and the manufacturer's instructions), be inspected before every use, and be used only by trained climbers.

No. Sewn terminations should not be altered. Buy the length you need.
8 mm cord is often used on 11 to 13 mm climbing lines, but always test the hitch low on your rope first.
