ClimbingPro grade

The Fox harness by R-Easy Climbing, fabric version, is a European-style tree climbing saddle for arborists who want a breathable textile build. It was offered on pre-order, so check current availability before planning around it.

Fabric versus leather

The Fox comes in fabric and leather versions. Fabric saddles tend to be lighter and dry faster after a wet morning, which many climbers prefer in summer heat. Leather has a classic feel and wears in over time but needs more care to keep it supple.

Either way, the job is the same: hold you comfortably in work position while you rig, prune, or take down wood, and keep your tools organized on the hips.

European-style saddles usually put the attachment on a bridge or sliding ring, so you can rotate around the stem without your system pulling you sideways. That suits climbers who spend long stretches working out on limbs. Before buying any pre-order saddle, check sizing information carefully, because returns and exchanges can take longer than with stocked items.

Fit and inspection

Size the saddle with the clothing you climb in, then hang test with your full rack. Check stitching, buckles, and the attachment points before every climb, and keep the saddle away from fuel, bar oil, and sharp tools in the truck.

Browse our European saddles to compare options. Life-support gear must meet the applicable standard (ANSI Z133 and the manufacturer's instructions), be inspected before every use, and be used only by trained climbers.
