Apparel

This Arborwear hoodie is the Double Thick hooded sweatshirt in orange, size large. Two layers of fabric add warmth and toughness for winter climbing and ground work, and the orange color is easy for your crew to pick out.

Why crews wear the Double Thick

The Arborwear Double Thick hoodie is built with two layers of fabric, so it holds more heat than a regular sweatshirt and shrugs off bark, brush and rope longer. It works as an outer layer on cold, dry days and as a mid layer under a shell when the weather turns.

The cut leaves room to reach overhead, throw line and step up onto a limb. If you are between sizes, think about the base layer you wear under it. Other colors and styles are in our sweatshirts and jackets section.

Many climbers keep two or three of these in rotation through the winter so there is always a dry one in the truck. It pairs well with a stocking cap and a shell for wet, windy days on the ground.

Orange on the job

Orange is easier for a ground crew to see than navy or black, which helps when you are moving around the drop zone or a chipper. It is still not a certified high-visibility garment. For roadside work, wear an approved vest over it as your traffic control plan requires.

Tuck drawstrings and keep the hood down under your helmet so nothing catches on rope or branches, and never reach toward a chipper infeed. Wash cold, inside out, and dry low or hang dry so the color holds.
