Apparel

The Arborwear Tech Double Thick pullover is a heavyweight two-layer work sweatshirt in a technical fabric, here in navy with orange. It is the layer for cold mornings that you can keep on while climbing and dragging brush.

A sweatshirt built for the job

Ordinary hoodies stretch out at the cuffs and soak through on the first climb. The Tech Double Thick takes Arborwear's double-layer idea and builds it in a technical fabric, so it stays warm when the morning is cold and dries better once you start working hard.

The navy body hides sap and bar oil, and the orange gives a bit of contrast against the canopy. A pullover has no zipper to catch on a lanyard or saddle. See the rest of our sweatshirts and jackets.

Double-layer sweatshirts are popular with tree crews because one garment covers most of a cool day. You start the morning warm, keep it on through a climb, and only reach for a jacket when it rains or the wind picks up. The heavier fabric also takes the scrapes of brush dragging and chipper feeding better than a thin fleece, and holds its shape through repeated washing.

Fit and care

Size it to wear over a T-shirt or base layer and under a shell when it rains. Check that the length stays tucked under your saddle without riding up when you reach overhead.

Wash it cold, keep it away from saw fuel, and hang or tumble low to keep the fabric in shape. A sweatshirt is not high-visibility apparel; if your job requires hi-vis, wear a compliant vest or shirt over it.

The orange trim also makes it easier for a ground worker to pick you out against dark bark, though it does not replace proper visibility gear.
