Climbing

The Weaver throwline bucket is an open-top container that holds throw line in a loose stack so it pays out smoothly when you launch the throw bag. It keeps the line off the grass and away from sticks, and it is quick to refill after a miss.

Simple and fast

A bucket is about the simplest way to store throw line. Drop the line in loosely as you pull it back, put the throw bag on top and it is ready for the next throw. The open top lets line leave in a straight run, which keeps throws accurate and stops the line snagging on the edge.

Set it on level ground in front of you and secure the tail end so the line cannot all follow the throw bag over the limb.

Buckets are also quick to empty and clean. Tip out the leaves and twigs at the end of the day, and if the line got wet, let it dry loosely before you put it back. A clean line slides better through crotches and is less likely to hang up.

Line care

Throw line wears where it runs over bark and through crotches. Look it over as you refill the bucket and replace it once it fuzzes, glazes or flattens.

Throw line kits get used on nearly every climb, so small time savings add up. A clean, contained line means fewer re-throws, less frustration and less time standing at the base of the tree before the real work starts.
