Throw line storage that keeps your line flaked and ready for clean throws.
The FTC Matriosac 3 is a throwline bag that holds your throw line flaked and ready, so it feeds out smoothly when you launch the throw bag. Keeping line contained instead of loose on the ground is the quickest way to cut down on tangles and wasted throws.
Most of the time spent setting a line is not throwing, it is untangling. A good storage bag gives the line a clean stack to pay out from, so a throw goes up and over without snagging on grass and sticks. Missed throws go back in the bag quickly, ready for another try.
Place the bag on firm ground in front of you, clear of your feet, and secure the tail end so the line cannot leave with the throw bag.
Good throw line storage also speeds up setting a second line, whether that is a rigging line or a separate access line for single-rope work. Keep each line in its own bag so they cannot knot together on the ground.
Throw line wears fast where it runs over bark. Check it as you repack, and retire line that is fuzzed, glazed or flattened before it fails at the wrong moment.
Throw line kits get used on nearly every climb, so small time savings add up. A clean, contained line means fewer re-throws, less frustration and less time standing at the base of the tree before the real work starts.
