The Tachyon Ash replacement lanyard is a positioning lanyard made from Teufelberger tachyon rope in the Ash colorway. Use it to replace a worn lanyard while keeping your adjuster and connectors if they still pass inspection.

Fresh rope for your lanyard

The lanyard rope is the part that wears out first. Every flip around the stem grinds bark into the cover, and every adjustment works the fibers. When it gets fuzzy, glazed or stiff, it is time for new rope.

Tachyon is a popular choice because it has a firm, round feel, holds a hitch well and runs cleanly through mechanical adjusters. The Ash color is a quieter option than the brighter tachyon colors. Compare our other rope lanyards if you want a different rope.

When you swap in a new lanyard, check that the adjuster grips and releases the new rope as smoothly as it did the old one. Fresh rope can feel firmer at first and loosen up after a few climbs. Test it close to the ground before you rely on it for spar work.

Matching and inspecting

Confirm your adjuster is approved for tachyon's diameter and construction, and that the terminations suit the connectors you will use. Set it up only as the manufacturers instruct.

Inspect it before every climb for cuts, glazing, flat spots and splice damage. Lanyards are life-support gear: they must meet the applicable standard, be used within ANSI Z133 and be used by trained climbers. Keep the saw away from it and retire it after any cut.
